List of (not so recent) Anime Series

Now here's a list of really great anime series I would love to have ^_^

Although I never watched all episodes for none of series given bellow, I do remember watching some episodes at AniPop or through DVD rips passed on from friends... and believe me, some of them were really cool!

I guess I've been away from IRC channels and the anime scene for too long, but there are really some great shows out there. I haven't had any luck downloading these titles through BitTorrent, but if any of you kind readers have any idea from where I can get them...

Inu Yasha (Here's the 1st Episode)

Vandread (Just an excerpt from the 1st episode)

Angelic Layer (Here's the 1st episode)

Tsukikage Ran (Just the opening credits)
Although I only saw the first 3 episodes, this is one of the coolest things I can remember watching. It's the female version of Rurouni Kenshin... a female samurai and her chinese friend who journy around japan drinking sake and ending up in trouble.

Comic Party (Here's the 1st episode)

Koko Wa Greenwood (Episode 4 preview)

Ayashi no Ceres (Here's the 1st episode)

Jubei-chan (Just an excerpt)

Gatekeepers (A promo)

FLCL (Another promo)

Suzuka (Here's episode 1)

Ayatsuri Sakon (Here's an excerpt of the 1st episode)

Top wo Nerae 2 (Gunbuster II, and Here's episode 1)

Panda Z (Here's the 2nd Episode)

Full Metal Panic (Just a trailler)

Yakitate! Japan (The 1st episode)

Ichigo Mashimaro (Here's a prologue to the series)

Tales of Phantasia (Here's the trailler)

I Need New Anime To Watch

I'm looking for new anime series to watch, and any recommendations you may have are gratefully received in the comments section.

Meanwile, just found the first episode of "Paranoia Agent" down on YouTube. This series came highly recommended from some friends of mine, and after checking this video I can tell why. Check it out bellow.

David Takes us Outside

"It was definitely murder - but was it art?" So begins one of my all-time favorite albums, David Bowie's "Outside". I was just dusting out my CD collection and guess what crawled out of the closet.

This was originally intended to be the first album in a series, hence the "1" on the album cover, but the continuation of this saga never came to pass.

As you might have guessed by now, I just love this album... the booklet, the artwork, the db logo. Everything is perfect, and years from the original release, it still keeps its original intensity (for me, this is even better than the Berlin records "Low", "Heroes" and "Lodger"... well, maybe not "Heroes" ^_^)

Perhaps better remembered from movies like "Se7en" or "Lost Highway", the record tells the tale of detective Nathan Adler investigating the "art-ritual murder" of Baby Grace Blue. On the booklet we can read "the diary of Nathan Adler or a non-linear gothic drama Hyper-cycle." Pretentious? Well, perhaps... But in my head, this album became synonymous with the 90's, and with all the hits and misses that connotes.

The music is a startling mixture of electronics and pop/rock, featuring lots of experimentalism (yes, Brian Eno gave a hand on production). As for the lyrics, we get the usual "magik" stuff so typical of Bowie:

...It's happening now
The crazed in the hot-zone
The mental and diva's hands
The fisting of life
To the music outside...

...Toll the bell
Pay the private eye
All's well
20th century dies...

...All the majesty of a city landscape
All the soaring days in our lives
All the concrete dreams in my mind's eye
All the joy I see thru these architect's eyes...

Guess this CD is now gonna stay on my stereo for a few more days! And now, here's a live video of "Outside" from a German TV show.

LEONARD COHEN: I'M YOUR MAN

After "The Passion of the Christ", another movie about a Jew with a fanatical cult following, Mel Gibson produced a documentary about Lenoard Cohen entitled "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man".

Part documentary and part concert film, the movie centers around the January 2005 Australian tribute concert, and also includes behind-the-scenes action and interviews in which "Cohen himself reveals his trademark wry humor and soulful intensity, using his own artwork, poetry and personal collection of photographs to reflect upon his colorful past and his creative process," according to a press release.

The best part is that the movie will be shown here in Lisbon as part of the IndieLisboa festival (28 Abril, 18h30, at Fórum Lisboa).

Executing JavaScript code inside Blogger posts

Now this is a really cool hack, and it runs on both IE and FireFox. As you may have noticed, Blogger does not allow for <script> tags inside posts. However, a workaround is to use DOM scripting and the JavaScript eval() function, in order to execute the code inside some other tag. Just place something like this in the HEAD part of your Blogger template:

<script type="text/javascript">
function loadCodePosts() {
var c, i;
if (document.all)
c = document.all.tags('code');
else if (document.getElementsByTagName)
c = document.getElementsByTagName('code');
var junk = /^\s*\46lt;\133\133CDATA\133|]]\46gt;\s*$/g;
for( i=0; i < c.length; i++ ) {
try { eval( c[i].innerHTML.replace( junk, '' ) ); } catch (err) { };
}
}
</script>

Also on your template, place the loadCodePosts() function on the onload property of the BODY tag:

<body onload="loadCodePosts()">

Finally, on your posts, just do something like this in order to include JavaScript code:

<code style="display:none"> Your JavaScript code! </code>

That's it... Simple and easy ^_^

Check this for learning how to place Google maps on Blogger posts.

Picos da Europa

Just doing some tests with image overlays, but I guess this is harder than what I first expected.

var mapp = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map-picos")); mapp.addControl(new GSmallMapControl()); mapp.setCenter(new GLatLng(43.20616451368453, -4.851084790347035), 12); mapp.setMapType(G_SATELLITE_MAP); var icon = new GIcon(); icon.image = "http://static.flickr.com/45/130698232_15d0fa6fc8.jpg"; var point = new GLatLng(43.20616451368453, -4.851084790347035); mapp.addOverlay(new GMarker(point, icon));
